Bypass shock tower plug?

I have a 88 crx and it already had a obd1 swap in it when I got it. I was looking at the wiring and it looks like they bypassed the shock tower plug and went straight through the firewall to the ecu with most of the wires. Is this okay? or should I redo all of it through the shock tower plug?
 
I'm not CEL free though.... I've been trying to check the CEL code but I can't find the 2P I need to short to get it to blink. It's an 88 CRX so if you know where it is that would be helpful.
 
ahh...good point...forgot, the OBD0 ECUs had the LED on the ECU...OBD1 the CEL blinks. Definitely a Wil (civicious) seeing as he has a D15B CRX.
 
Pop the hood, the 2pin connector is on the driver's side strut tower (or in that general area)...I believe it has a yellow rubber cover on the plug
