Umm if you want to look at the opposite end of the spectrum fascism doesn't work either. At that, the world is moving towards more and more socialistic ways. Look at the european model, etc. As time goes on, we need to evolve. Not saying, I agree with any sort of hand outs, but I Feel that the largest reason for opposition towards anything socialist is because of how shitty the rusky's handled it.

i dont like the idea of a fascist state either... i dont think the government should be running much of anything... i dont really believe in a "party" system... i think that the government should be as small as possible, have its grubby hands in as little as possible, and do as little as possible...

the government in our country forgot a long time ago that IT works for US

Now, while I am saying this – understand me here. I am not advocating the overthrow of the government.
I obey the laws of the land. (most of them) What I am advocating here is an active resistance to the status quo. I don’t want violence, I am a peaceful person. I just want the People of the United States to WAKE UP. I want their eyes to be OPENED and I want them to SEE the corruption for what it is and to finally say with a loud voice “IT IS OVER.”
But how can we do this? Put the “Anarchist's Cookbook” away – there are no answers there. Active Resistance is a lot of work.
Here is what you do:

1. EMAIL and send letters to your newspapers – local and regional so the sheople can read your opinion.
2. Vote against our failed leaders. I don’t care who is running for what ever office is up for grabs - vote AGAINST who ever is in the driver seat now.
3. Send emails to EVERY ONE YOU KNOW about current events and politics and point out the lies and the bias and the half truths and the bad wigs and everything else you find in the media.
4. This one may shock you: Run for an office. Join the PTA. Get active in the community. Get out and BE HEARD. Invite those who are contrary over for dinner one night and have some talks "round tables" and then lecture them about what is going on and what the real problems are.

that doesnt go as far as i would like in the "getting rid of the 2 party system" department... but that will come with time...
first thing that needs to be done is shaking up the 2 party system that we have... it needs to be fixed as best it can.. and the only way to do that is to cut away all of the dead weight that is in it now... get rid of the stagnant bastards sitting in there... make them fear us... let them know that THEY SERVE US... and if they do not serve us, then they are not going to be there for another term... get some fresh blood in there...

i feel that career politicians are a big part of what is ruining this country
politicians were never meant to serve for 20+ years in washington
they were supposed to be a sampling of the common man, piked by their peers, to go to washington for a short period of time to represent the people of that area.
a common person from any given area could never make it to washingon today... especially not without whoring themselves out to the lobbyists and corporations
so we have a bunch of elitist ass bags that couldnt tell you a single landmark in your neighborhood "representing you" and your best interests in washington... while in reality, they dont know you, they dont know where you are from, and they damn sure dont share your voice...

Werd, decentralizing the government and splitting into nation-states would be the best thing that could happen to this country. Other than the slavery issue, I think this country would have been a much better place if the confederacy had prevailed.

IMO, slavery would have been gone also. I mean, you don't see much racism in the south much anymore. It seems like it's bigger up north and out west. In other words, the confederate states would have "got with times" and changed. Even during the Civil war, the north was still racist too!

the south has changed when it comes to things of that matter, it took a very long time, but blacks are probably the majority down here now. where slavery was at its worst is populated by the most colored people.
go visit some of the plantation cities in southern alabama and georgia, you will see more blacks than whites,
i would be 100% certain that slavery would not be an issue.

The problem is that that's how the country was designed! The way it was set up, each state is essentially its own country ("states" comes from "nation states"), with the Federal level only occasionally convening for big issues. The Federal government has slowly crept into state's business though, and neutered them into essentially acting as one big state with the Federals at the helm.

Think of the European Union. They're less tightly knit than even our most optimal setup, but the analogy works... No one thinks of Germany as just a state, but that's exactly what it is under the EU. And that's exactly what our 50 states are supposed to be. Separate, but together.

I vote for the chain gang method.

All the people that want a handout can go to work in one specific spot every day. Certain people will be assigned to watch their children. At the end of the day, they can get a voucher for a certain dollar amount if they worked. Otherwise, they can sit and rot with nothing.

Their children are cared for, they are working for the money, and it will help progress the projects that need to be done.

I've lived here my entire life, and I've delivered to some very rampantly hick-ish morons. Yet they didn't scream of racism. I find racism coming (lets just say... on xbox live) more from the people who live in the south than here. Of course you have a guy from Pittsburgh on my friends list whos a crazy redneck racist.
