OK i need to change the oil pan gasket on my '86 corolla. to get to some of the bolts i need to take a piece off, i dont even know what to call it, i guess it wold be like a piece of the fram. its a piece that supports the motor and the bottom motor mounts bolts to it. what i am wondering is if i remove this and unbolt the motor mount, will the motor be supported enough just for long enough for me to change the gasket?

if its got 2 more mounts on either side then you should be fine...

i've seen just one mount hold a motor/trans combo in...

just be safe, and if you think its too much strain then support it from above, or below... jack under the tranny to hold some weight, or a hoist with chain to hold the whole motor...
