Hi guys,

I have a ek9 B18C GSR swapped since one month now. All was fine till this some hours ago. When I turn the key ignition to on and wait for my walbro fuel pump to activate and start the car, but after 5-7 seconds, I hear a continuous tak-tak sound behind the hand glove box and the car goes off. Then the fuel pump starts activate by itself from time to time when key is on "on". What can be the problem ? Thanks

This definitely sounds like it could be the main relay. They are located underneath the glovebox area on that year Civic. I found it easiest to just remove the glovebox to get to it.

You can pull it out and test it with a multimeter, or try throwing a new relay at it to see if that solves the problem.

That'd be my first guess though, especially since you are hearing some kind of a clicking noise around the glove box.

Thanks. just checked it and a specialist did the test and said that it is all fine. Now telling me it may be the fuel pump or the fuel filter which is faulty. Can it be as when I turn the key to on, the fuel pump activates like it did normal as before.

Just that after 10 seconds the car is on, it goes off with the clicking sound. For the electric specialist, as he accelerates the fuel pump doesn't work and this send default signal to the relay to stop the car.

I have a walbro fuel pump. Need to tow the car at the mechanic now I think.

It could also be a short in the wiring to the fuel pump making the main relay go crazy and make those noises... Or the pump itself drawing too much current freaking the relay out... Or the main relay going bad....

Well the mechanic just checked in and here in Mauritius we don't get a good fuel quality.
Now he's saying either the fuel pump has dust particles or the fuel filter. May be this causing the fuel not getting into the engine well and make it goes off. Tomorrow he'll come and clean it and see where it goes.

As some days I did let the fuel goes really down to see how much my consumption is, then did top up the tank full on Friday.

May be dust particles did get in the fuel filter etc. Hope so not a big issue guys.

Problem solved today guys. The problem was not fuel or relay but the earth system cables of my car. There wasn't enough and giving bad signal to the car ecu and relay.
