cd is not working :(

i tried to install sony cd player on my 2dr civic 97 , i succeed but the problem is the cd is not working but the radio is fine , its like the stereo dosen't want to take in the cds , i dont know if its from the wiring .
any advice guys?

its not new my friend gave it to me and he told me its working and there is no cds inside i bought brand new strero im gonna install it and im gonna let you know

i had that problem with the alpine that came in my car when i bought it.
the cd would stay stuck in it, then one day i just opened it up and took the cd out and now a cd wont go in it..
