Well as stated, CEL is permanently on and the vtec does not cross over... its all wired correctly, its been triple checked by a couple different people... any ideas? Also while driving sometimes the CEL will display different flash patterns and what not... They dont look like normal codes So i dont know what the hell is wrong, when the key is in the on position the CEL is perma on... Just did a B16A2 into a 93 CX hatch

Its random, it will sometimes blink when im going around 4000 rpm and sometimes it will stay steady... I dont have a obd1 engine checker and no local shops do because its a domestic, im taking it to my friend that reprogrammed my ECU incase something went wrong with the ecu...

you dont need a CEL reader.. underneath the glovebox or around it by the passenger door.. there will be a 2 wire plug.. stick both ends of a paper clip in the plugs and turn the key, but not on.. the CEL will start flashing.. long flash = 10 short flash = 1.. just add them up and you have your code

if this doesn't help, sell your honda and buy something new.

In order to retreive the code, access the passenger side kick panel. Located above the ECU is a seperate brown plug tucked inside a green rubber boot. Jump the two wires together with a paper clip or stand of wire. Once that is done, turn the key to the ON position but do not start. Count the number of flashes. each long flash = 10 and each short flash = 1. i.e. two long flashes and three short flashes = 23. Once all stored CEL have been cleared, the Check Engine Light will stay solidly illuminated. Pull the jumper wire or paperclip back out and reinstall everything behind the passenger kick panel.

    Plug:

    Connector located within the plug:

    Jump it like so:
