changed distributo now car runs funny

    so the rotor in my distributor was broken when i opend it up, the distributor i had goten from a junk yard so i decided to just get a new one, after replacing it when i start driving, my check engine light comes on and the car loses power also when it gets to about 3.5 rpm the car feels like its gona stall out :confused:

    did you replace it with the same dizzy? and check for loose wires/ grounds

    yea same dizzy.someone told me i could have messed with the timing putting on the new one. u think thats true?

    If you took the whole distributor out, yes.

    I thought these years had distributorless ignition? I.E. Coil packs.

    well I don't see that you stated which car you have, if you removed the distributor you changed your timing, get a timing light and you should be fine.
