changed distributo now car runs funny

so the rotor in my distributor was broken when i opend it up, the distributor i had goten from a junk yard so i decided to just get a new one, after replacing it when i start driving, my check engine light comes on and the car loses power also when it gets to about 3.5 rpm the car feels like its gona stall out

did you replace it with the same dizzy? and check for loose wires/ grounds

yea same dizzy.someone told me i could have messed with the timing putting on the new one. u think thats true?

If you took the whole distributor out, yes.

I thought these years had distributorless ignition? I.E. Coil packs.

well I don't see that you stated which car you have, if you removed the distributor you changed your timing, get a timing light and you should be fine.
