well i'm just a highschool junkie looking for some cheap speakers that are of good quality and sound amazing for the price, i'd like 6.25 in the front door panels and 6x9's in the rear, maybe even a small woofer box in the trunk..i was looking at sony's "xplod" systems and i have a feeling there overpriced and cheap, but hey its just a hunch and i could be wrong....anyway any feedback is good feedback...peace

You can get either power acoustik, sound stream, Quantum Audio. That is my opinion and if you want REALLY good stuff buy Earthquake. Just search online or I can see what I can do at my shop to ship them...I don't even know how much it is to ship something to canada even if I can.

Used audio equipment is teh suck. This stuff DOES have a lifespan. Speakers, amps, head units, everything wears out sooner or later.

And quantum, power acoustik, soundstream, etc suck ass.

Go for alpine stuff. It isn't high priced and is pretty good quality. I used to LOVE pioneer, but they've been whored out one too many times (sold from company to company) and are starting to get really cheap and crappy.

Pioneer hasn't been sold to my knowledge, they may have restructured, but never sold. Pioneer Elite and Premier lines have been at the top of the home and car fields for some time now. Now, of course they have cheaper lines that perform worse but cost less but so does everyone else.

And I have found Pioneer Rev's to be an excellent series of coaxial speakers.

Well, over the years, I've installed dozens of car stereo systems and I've watched pioneer's head units get better and better, and their speakers get worse and worse...

But, I just read that they won on october 10th at the 2005 dB Drag World Finals, setting a world record of 178db. That says something for the company.. But then again, cranking out earth shattering bass and cranking out crystal clear sound are two entirely different things.

My CRX had a full pioneer system in it. Components up front (6.5 mid, tweaters, crossovers) and 4 way 6x9's in the rear, with a 200 W amp running the Component setup. It sounded AWESOME. Very clear, very nice. So I can't say that they are shit I suppose.. But lately their speakers have been taking a turn for the worse.

*edit*.. Remember when they changed the logo from the wrench looking thing to just the word "pioneer" written as it is now? That same month, radio shack started carrying pioneer products. But strangely, the pioneer DVD player was EXACTLY the same as the RCA dvd player. Just different badges. Same with the home audio. For a while there, we had two of everything and you got to pick the brand you wanted. I can't seem to pull up anything on google, but I'm pretty damn sure Pionner sold out to RCA that year. And thats when the speakers started sucking.

i agree. pioneer is good, but i also agree with Phyregod, they have been getting worse. but either way, they are decently priced for good to moderate sound. i have some basic pioneers in my eg, 4 6.5's and its just fine. i'd preffer maybe a little more bass, but not something i can expect from pioneer. there more for trebble and clearity, not mid level bass

I have a sony xplod system in my lude right now. I love the way it sounds. I dont care what yall say about sony. If i like the way it sounds i buy it. Thats why i didnt buy alpine or eclipse. I hated the way my music sounds on it.

my girlfriend has some competition level sony xplods in her car and i can honestly say they dont impress me at all. then again she doesnt have a very big amp or a very good hu

Pioneer is good. IMO, of course. I had no problems with their 5 1/4" and 5x7s in my Escort. Now my system is basically all Kenwood. KDC deck, KDC changer, KFC 6.5s all the way around and KFC 3/4" tweeters in the doors. The sound is immaculate, and don't distort unless you turn the system waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay up.

I also received Kenwood mini amps to control the mid/highs between my front speakers, but didn't use them... and they still sound excellent.

so when did Kentucky freid Chicken start giving speakers with there food? :bustout: (KFC)
