discuss I'm shocked
link to story and video
That "cop" should not have done several things:
1. Show up late to work
2. Involve himself in the altercation without backup
3. Draw his gun on unarmed people
4. Join the police force
Who lets these fucktards have guns? I'm gonna propose legislation to revoke the right of police to carry firearms unless they go through a rigorous weapons handling course. This kind of shit happens WAY too often. I'm more afraid of police than criminals.
they are lowering the age to become a police officer because they are in such high demand. i think you only have to be 19 here in washington.
I know what you mean. Some of the local cops went to my high school and were in classes below me. Scary thought.
thats some fucked up shit
i can only hope that now that the video has come out the fucker burns for it
and all the bastards that covered it up too
another thing that bothers me is i hear way too fucking many stories about cops shooting someone (usually wrongfully) and firing off 50 - 150 rounds and only hitting the guy 3 - 9 times
and most of the hits still arent well placed
theres a LOT of cops out there that seriously need to learn how to fucking shoot
if i can go to the shooting range and rent a gun that i have never shot before, thats not sighted in for me, etc... and still get every one of the 150 or so rounds i end up firing off within a 6 inch grouping from about 25-30 ft away...
then i would think that a cop, who has his/her own gun...
a gun that he/she is supposed to be practicing with on a regular basis...
a gun that should be sighted in perfectly for him/her...
a gun that should be so second nature to them, that aiming that gun and getting their shots on target should be as instinctive and precise as pointing their finger at someone...
they should be able to land every shot at the range within the 8 ring
now i understand that in a stressfull situation motor skills are not what they are when you are calm at the range... adrenaline, tension, distractions, fear, etc can all take a toll on your aim
but for fuck sake... these cops arent sniping someone from 1000 yards away... they are usually shooting well within 30ft... i would expect them to be able to at least hit somewhere on a fucking human body at least 60% of the time... half these cops would have trouble hitting a barn, shooting from inside of it
shooting a gun is a lot harder than shooting a rifle, in my opinion but he shot this guy in the face from point blank.
every handguin ive shot has been wildly inaccurate compared to any rifle ive shot
are you serious???
still, a trained professional (i.e. cop, military, security) should be able to hit. E is right. i've read about several cops shooting the at the same target, they go through 2 clips each and the guy gets hit like 4 times.
I've shot a 9mm with a four inch barrel and it was fairly accurate up to the 15yd range. I mean, come on...If you are going to be a cop, the least you should be able to do is hit a target where you want when you are less than 30ft.
E is right. Compared to a rifle; which depending on cartridge can hit someone accurately at 100yds, is of course more accurate than a pistol; but pistols are for close quarters. Pistols are pretty accurate for the range they're designed to work with.
I hope they do something about this guy now that the video is out; well pretty much all of the police that was involved in the "cover up".
You guys are seriously shortsighted.
Think of why there are so many shots typically fired. Thats right, multiple police officers.
Now put yourself in close quarters and have the sound of gun shots echoing around you. If you think the target has a gun, suddenly in your head you can easily attribute some of the gun shots coming from the target when in reality the target may not be firing at all.
It explains a lot of the NYC shootings where an innocent guy is shot multiple times and its usually by a person who has never been in a firefight before.
Its easy to sit back in our class houses and critique when we don't fully understand the situation. I highly doubt that any of you have really given thought to conditions such as these yet you still make assumptions and draw conclusions.
That fucking cop is a murderer, and all the people who saw this video and said he was justified are pieces of shit. And they wonder why people write songs like "Fuck The Police" and "Cop Killer". Well watch the video, listen to the narration and wonder no more.
thankyou captain obvious
i dont think anyone here was under the impression that a single cop was reloading 10 times
hence where i said "now i understand that in a stressfull situation motor skills are not what they are when you are calm at the range... adrenaline, tension, distractions, fear, etc can all take a toll on your aim"
does it explain why these "highly trained" officers of the law fail to land 80+% of their shots??
does it explain why some wound up, inexperienced, porly trained, officer used deadly force in a situation where it may or may not (usually not) have been justified??
yeah im making assumptions and drawing conclusions
im assuming that police are supposed to be trained to handle themselves and their weapons in stressful situations
im assuming that police are supposed to be able to shoot their weapon with some level of competence and accuracy
im concluding that they are not
if 7 cops end up blowing away some guy for whatever reason (right or wrong) i simply think that they should be able to hit the fucking guy more than 5 times when 100+ rounds are fired
Helen fucking Keller could land 5 out of 100 rounds as long as somone pointed her in the right general direction
cops should be training regularly in realistic, stressfull shoot out senarios with their actual weapon, with actual projectiles,
if they cant display some level of competence and accuracy than they shouldnt be out in public with a gun
They pretty much have to do SWAT to learn how to shoot.
how do you figure? you pretty much get a free gun range and free bullets. 30 minutes a day for a week and you should be able to at least hit somewhere in the outline.
these cops basically suck. i'm not making fun of the situation, but in all seriousness i think the untrained asian kid had a better hit percentage than most cops.
See and people are worried/afraid about a "normal person" having a handgun... I have been saying this for a very long time that just because they have a badge does not make them a well trained individual. And the police/military/security people have really no reason to be at least competent out to say 20 feet.
I'm talking about learning to shoot when you're in a "situation". Sure you can shoot at a non-threatening paper target at the range, but I'm pretty sure SWAT teaches how to shoot when in certain situations and stay calm.
oh ok. thats why a lot of swat are ex-military to. ask blanco though, if you train for something enough, you should be able to just react. i.e. fighting. i still think if a 23 year old asian kid can do it, cops should be able to. shit, cops are getting to be all our age now. they all played duck hunt, if they had a little dog laughing at them, they would get 15/20.
