At this point, it's another auto sport that's WAY to lean on the margins. F1 wins are decided by 0.05 second actions that take place 10 laps before the checkered flag, even NASCAR races aren't decided by much more than the number of millisecond mistakes the driver makes.

    Too competitive.

Too competitive? Should they just start giving out participation trophies to everyone and not even declare a winner because everybody is a winner in their own special way?

Besides its a quarter mile track covered in under seven seconds, half a car length (more of a normal margin of victory) is a huge margin when you put it in perspective.

They should let the teams, engineers and drivers do their best, without regulation and without limits.

NASCAR, in particular, is SO clamped by regulation that it's basically the same car, the same athletes and the same factors in all participants.

F1 is another thing. Think of the Tyrell 6 wheeler. This is a car that was banned because it was so good. That's total horseshit.

Then it just becomes who has the most money to throw at a car. Not that it isn't 90% that way already, it would just get ridiculous. And I cant believe I'm saying this, but possibly too dangerous. That's why top fuel doesn't even run the full quarter anymore. Also it isn't fun or exciting to watch the same person win every time and that's probably what would happen. Who wants to watch the same race every week? No one. And the NHRA is a business. Plain and simple.

So it's basically like "Term Limits" in autosports. Don't you think that the sub .5 second launch disqualification is also kinda bullshit ? Or that something magical occurs at a certain time that requires a rollbar ? The whole sport is just wierd. I tried 1/4 mile drag racing before - Didn't like it.

Even Autocross is full of wierdness. I liked how at DOW down in Jersey, there basically were no rules. Just go and slide your ass.

It's clear you aren't a fan. That's ok. The rules are there for two very basic and simple reasons - 1) well defined fair, even competition and 2) safety - mainly safety.

You tried drag racing and didn't like it - ok. People that tried it and did like it, have taken the sport to upper echelon performance levels of 280+ MPH in 660' running 500" engines generating in excess of 8000 HP.

Pro trees no longer do .500r/t red lights. It's 0.0. Been that way for years now. That was just another way to make the sport about skill, not soley who brings the fastest car.

It's not magic, It's statistics. Speed does in fact raise the likelihood of a more catastrophic accident. Though possible, a 16 second Honda is far less likely to be involved in a track accident causing it to flip than a sub 10 second car so it isn't required though you can add one if you feel the need. Also they've been changing the ET categories a lot because factory cars just keep getting quicker. It's carefully thought over, not just magic numbers being pulled out of their asses.

I don't think the sport is weird, It's just evolved over time and found a system that makes it competitive yet still fun and accessible to most anyone.

If you want a "run what you brung" heads up atmosphere, many tracks run special nights for just that where they turn off the tree and et displays. It's basically a safer way to street race. Some places call it "flashlight drags" because they actually signal the winners with people using flashlights at the end of the strip. It's a lot of fun and maybe fits your style better.

^ Maybe no form of Drag Racing fit's Cel's style - ok with me. Doesn't fit lot's of people's styles. I still love it!

The Professional Starting Trees use a random sequence initiation that is within a time range from when the Starter pushes the botton to when the Amber lights up, and a .400 second period from Amber to Green.

The reason Tyrrell was banned was because they got caught cheating, not because the car had 6 wheels. The Tyrrell car didn't even do all that great - if memory serves correct, it only won one GP.

Where do you come up with this horseshit? Half your posts are based on bullshit made-up and/or twist-to-fit facts...goddamn dude, you're a fucking moron.

TOO COMPETITIVE? One of the races I ran last year saw myself (who won the class championship in 2010) and the 2009 championship winner battling the entire race, bumping elbows and swapping paint for 8 (or maybe 10, I can't remember) laps - and he ended up crossing the finish line .001 second ahead of me - all because I held onto the brakes for a fraction too long coming into the last turn and BARELY missed the drive to pull past him. That's 'too competitive' for you?

Please. Go back to playing Final Fantasy, faggot.

This is the moment you chose to do an alpha battle with me ? This ? My opinion of how restriction on pro sports has killed the sportsmanship of the competition ?

Not my politics ? Not my advice, but this ? This right here ?

    Ok.

Why did F1 ban this design of car ? Was it because the ELF/ Tyrrell team cheated ? Hardly. Go ahead. You answer this question. Try to connect a cheating team to the overall banning of a design that Lotus, Ferrari, and others had designed for.

Because someone was caught cheating. Think about that for a moment.

Lastly, And this is crucial - NEVER will I stand - NEVER EVER will I stand for someone accusing me of playing Final Fantasy.

Now don't you have some neighborhood pets to hunt ?

    Hugs and kisses,
    Celerity.

P.S. - Next time you're in the mood to disagree with me, or anyone for that matter - Please feel free to do so in a way that makes us all think that your IQ is over 80. Thanks.
