Hi, hope I am in the right place. Came across this forum while searching info on google. I own a 1997 Ballade B16 Vtec.

Whilst driving and especially when the engine bay is hot, the pedal just goes flat to the floor, I have to pick it up and pump until I get clutch. I replaced the master cylinder and replaced the seals in the slave... nothing has helped. It was fine for a while after replacing the master but after a night of hard racing it began to feel spongy. Now it just goes down, if I keep my foot slightly on the pedal, its goes straight down with no clutch at all. I read about different ways to bleed the system, I am going to try it tonite. Please help with any other info or guidance.

This is really frustrating, the hydraulic system has a simple operating procedure but I just cant find the fault... I hope its just air in the system, I did try bleeding thru the nipple on the slave but it seems to also suck from there.

    Thanks

Problem sorted, for some reason the spring in the new master seemed to have collapsed. The seals where also swollen causing a blockage to pump fluid to the slave. No wonder when I tried bleeding the system, there was a swirl effect in the reservoir, just kept pumping back the fluid instead of out. Put in a new repair kit and everything seems fine. But the clutch engages at different points sometime, probably needs to be bled some more.

Once again, sorry for posting this thread in the wrong section. Wont happen again :)

BTW this is an awesome forum ;)

No this is probably the right section. Sorry for not seeing it earlier or I would have had a response for you. Good you got it though. Take care.

Thank you, I am still having a little problem. When the engine is cool, the clutch is soft and engages at about 3/4 way (top). As the engine bay gets hot, the clutch gets stiff and engages right at the top :( I did not use a very good fluid, could this cause it or maybe there is still air in the system? I did try to adjust the push rod under the pedal, no luck.

    ;)

Hmm not sure on that one. You may have a leaky slave cylinder too. As long as you used brake fluid you should be fine as far as that goes.
