I have a 2000 Integra GSR with 68,000 miles on it. I have noticed that the clutch will make a popping noise when I put it into reverse and begin to engage the clutch as I back up slowly. It is almost like it pops each time the axle is spinning around. It doesn't do it when I put the car in 1st and engage the clutch as I move forward, only backwards so far.

What do you think it is?

does it do this when you turn sharp, left or right? could be a bad axle making the popping sound you hear..
 
Maybe missing some teeth on your Revers gear!
