codec for avi files

    i'm trying to download some video files off of limewire. the file type is "avi" and when i try to play them, it says, "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file."

    so what do i need to do to be able to watch the video?

    probably divx.

    avi can hold a ton of codecs.

    just get that codec pak.

    eh, i was just curious what all this "tammy nyp" hooplah was all about. I don't have cable cause i'm never at home. i just watch movies and work on cars. i downloaded it on limewire.
