I would like to create a partion on my existing HD in order to save movie files from my camera. Is this possible? Would it be ok to do so? Im running, windows XP home edition, (if it makes a difference) On a toshiba laptop A15 Satellite. thanx for your help.

you want another drive to put the files in? like P:\ or something?

explain more of what you want

whats wrong with just a folder?

It's going to take up the same amount of space

making hard drive partitions actually speeds up your computer a tiny bit, what it is is taking C:/ and making it into 2 or more different drives for instance.

F:/ P:/ and Q:/ they are each in proportion to the original HDs space but help organization and file finding/opening.

im not a XP wiz, but if you go to
this place they tell you how. that site says you need a 3rd party program but i KNOW there is a way to do it without using a program, i just forgot how. if you search up www.downloads.com they will have most of the 3rd party proggies you will need. most come with a 30 day trail period which will not stop you from using it for 5 years, but it will disable some parts of the program. :( sorry for forgetting how to do it but i hope this helps.

get partition magic.

splitting up a drive with M$ windows software will require a format. partiotn magic does not. you can get it on kazza.... i bleive version 7 is the latest

with partion magic, yes you can merge partitions.

its harmless unless you have files named the same thing....

:withstupid:
and it's Partition Magic 8 that's the newest
works wonders, been using it since it as a command line version.

PM8 is the latest. Get it. It's a damn good program.
