the easiest way is to get a cable/dsl router . forget about putting a second nic in a computer and setting up a proxy or NAT that is so last years technology.
 
MTU = maximum transmission unit

The biggest piece of data that can be transmitted w/o an acknowledgement. Therefore a smaller MTU is more reliable, but slower.

Well, that helps, and answered that question, but has anyone had an issue where the damn thing just stalls like that? :(
