Connecticut governor wants to raise taxes by $1.5 billion - Feb. 16, 2011

Tax everyone even more than we already are. This will keep people in the state. Less tax base even more tax hikes. Atleast this will help border towns of bordering states from people buying the goods cheaper out of state.
I never really thought I would leave the state, but I am not against it now.

It wouldn't matter one bit even if marvin the martian got voted in. If you looked closely at CT balance sheet last year you would have noticed there was no way whoever got into office wouldn't have to raise taxes or cut a tremendous amount of spending that would cut state jobs and services.

    And therein lies the issue.

Malloy has increased spending by 2.4% already.

We in Michigan elected the guy who WASN'T a career politician and so far I think we are moving in the right direction. He's announcing the new budget today, and instead of raising taxes, he's planning on cutting aid to cities, schools, and universities, taxing pensions (state and private empolyees, basically union retirees) and trying to get concessions from current state employees.

In exchange he's going to give a tax CUT to businesses to try and stimulate growth and hiring.

I'm actually quite impressed with Jerry Brown in CA. He has done away with 1/2 the state issued cell phones (worth 20 million a year) and 1/2 the state vehicles (16.5 million a year). He is also flying Southwest instead of the private jet to get around CA.
