cutting dead coils

is it possible to cut a dead coil or two off of the stock spring in a 91 civic? i want a 3/4 - 1 inch drop but i don't want to ruin spring rates.

Cutting coils will actually increase your spring rate and make it even more bouncy. Don't do it. Leave it as is and save up some cash for another set of springs.

i thought if you cut dead coils that it doesn't do anything to your spring rate. i was just wondering if civic springs have a dead coil that i could cut off.

by dead coil i mean a coil that sits right next to another coil and doesn't compress.
