cylinder positioning sensor question

I recently bought a car and i kept getting a check engine saying cylinder positioning sensor. Now correct me if i am wrong but this locates the #1 cylinder right?

Yeah- it usually means that you have a bad distributor or the distributor is clocked incorrectly.

Well i took apart the distributor and the cps ohmed out correct but i began to look at it and when the arm that crosses the cylinder positioning sensor crosses it the rotor is facing the front of the car. Weird i know!!!

The kid i bought the car form was an idiot and it worldnt supprise me if he put the wrong on on it. My vtec also doesnt want to enguage
