d-series swap

if i get a d16z6 vtec from a 92-95 civic w/ecu. will it be a direct swap into an 88-91 civic, or will i need a wiring harness too. also will the tranny from my d-series bolt up directly.

if it's a dx you'll need the wiring harness. I know nothing about wiring up a vtec but i did a zc into my 90 dx hatch. Get a harness.

what if i just want to put an si motor (d16a6) out of an 88-91 into a dx do i still need the harness.

Don't get a new harness- modify the one you have. You need to convert from DPFI to MPFI, then add wires for VTEC and a controller to trip it. Your stock transmission will bolt up fine, although the Si transmission is a much better choice.
