first off, what is the engine code for a 2001 civic ex? second, will the transmission froma 95 ex mount to this engine. i know they are both D blocks but some people have said that they wont mount together. will the 2001 engine mount right in the 95 civic?

You won't gain much- the engines are rated almost the same, with a little bit more torque on the D17A2. Your engine is a D16Z6- if you want more power on the D, just drop a good turbo kit on it and be done with it. You'll have a lot more power than swapping in another engine, and you'll come out without spending that much more cash than a cheap swap.
