My son and me swapped a d15 to a d16 the d 16 had multi port injection and the 15 had throttle body so we used the d15 distributor and the d15 throttle body to save all the wiring headaches. After the swap we have no spark. I checked the connections the grounds replaced the distributor and checked for error codes and none. There is power to the distributor but nothing out. The check engine light is on while we are cranking the engine but I don't know what is wrong. Any ideas on where to look or is what we did not going to work?

ground wire comes out of engine harness - it is the ground for the ECU, main relay and most of the sensors - it is a ring connector that attaches to bolt on the thermostat housing - at the upper right in the attached picture
