D15B8 to Replace a D15B7? Is this a bad idea?

I’m in need of technical advice regarding what to do with a D15B8 engine that I just purchased to replace a worn-out D15B7 engine in a ’92 Civic LX. I’m very new to Honda engines and must admit I’m dazed and confused by all of the different engines and combinations available for swapping. The engine I just purchased was being sold as a D15B7, and I find out after purchasing it that it’s actually a D15B8. I am disappointed to learn that it originally came from a Civic CX, and has only 70 HP vs. the 102 HP of the original engine in my Civic. Several questions: 1.) Although I know this engine will actually fit into my Civic, is it going to be so underpowered that I’ll be wishing I’d used another D15B7 or something else? I’m not really so concerned about having a powerful engine, but I don’t want to feel like I’m driving a Geo Metro. 2.) Will this D15B8 engine bolt up and work properly with the automatic transmission that’s in my Civic?(it's currently attached to a 5-speed) 3.) Are there any parts on the D15B7 engine that will swap onto the D15B8 that will help increase the HP? Thanks for any and all help.

Isnt the D15b8 a 8 valve engine? Im sure it is, why would you go from 16valve to 8?

Try reading. He said that he thought he was purchasing a B7, and then later found out that it was a B8.

Anyway, to the OP: I can't really say whether you'll be satisfied with the power output or not, but the engine shouldn't have any problems bolting up to the transmission. Not sure about the third question, maybe somebody else can chime in on that...

the differences between the b7 and b8 are internal
parts for hp wise pretty much nothing

it will work with the auto, BUT it might feel lackluster due to the ecu not made for the engine
if you get an auto ecu for ur motor, its all dandy

your car will feel underpowered, but as a kicker you will get AMAZING emm pee gees

your questions answered, in reverse order

If your B8 has the PM3/P03 pistons(4 valve reliefs; some came with 2 valve reliefs), you can swap your B7 head on there and it'll be the same thing as your B7.
