I am just curious as to if there is any difference between a Y7 and a Y8 block. In other words, is there any difference whatsoever between a full Y8 engine vs a Y7 block with a Y8 head on it? Will a hybrid have exactly the same output/reliability/compression ratio etc compared to dropping a complete Y8 in? I am fairly certain this is the case, but I would like some verification before I take the dive.

I do know for a fact that the pistons are different,
y7 pistons (p2e-000) piston displacement= -7.40 cc (dished)
y8 pistons (p2p) piston displacement= -6.20 cc (dished)

so the y8 pistons yield a higher compression vs the y7 pistons
Otherwise the blocks and internals should be identical.
