D16a1 head swap Q's

Hey, so what im understanding is that the DOHC d series motors all share the same bottom end, but how about the block? Can i dake a DOHC head, lets say from the d16a1, d16a8/9 or d16a6, and put it on my SOHC d16 or d15 block? Im just wonderin if it will straight up bolt on. I dont care if there arent any performance gains, i just think it'd be a fun project.

From what I've herd it won't work, and by the way the d16a6 is sohc not dohc.
