Hey guys,

I have a 95 Del Sol with a D16Z6 in it... however, the block is cracked. I own a D16Y7, would it be better to do a complete Y7 swap, or would it be better to do the Z6 head on the Y7 block. I am mostly concerned with OBD1 and OBD2 problems... if I were to use the OBD1 head on the OBD2 block, would I still need to convert the wiring harness and the ECU, or could I change a few things on the block from the cracked block?

I am semi-newb... I have put an engine in a Cavalier... it was swap for stock... so no modifying needed, so please remember that when replying!

Thanks guys,

Josh

z6 head might be 'better' but it's going to be work either way.
If you have a z6 head, why not put it on the y7 block (this is called 'mini-me') and keep vtec.
buy a new d16z6 timing belt

Do i have to do anything to the Y7 block? Like drill holes for the oil squirters? and what about OBD1/2
With the z6 head, the car will remain obd1, you will need a p28 ecu to run it correctly.
As for the oil drilling, that's someone else's field.

That link might help you.
Tells you where the oil comes from.
