alright what i have is a d16y7 block and a d16z6 head ive been told that the y7 timing belt wont work with the d16z6 cam gear so the dilema is i have a new y7 belt so can i take the y7 cam gear and put on the z6 camshaft im just throwing a motor together until i get my ls vtec done

Somebody is giving you bad information. You'd use the Y7 timing belt which is the same as the other D16 belts(104-teeth). Put the head back together like a regular D16Z6 with the D16Y7 belt(in other words, keep the Z6 cam gear).

intersting i was wondering if there was something i could do with my y7 till i get my ls vtec done. thanks for the info
