d16y7 vtech or not ??
off a 98 civic dx ..
I had a Y7 last year, not vtec....dont spin them past 7500rpm without better rod cap bolts. Oem ones tend to stretch and stuff breaks. Thats the way it is with SOHC's though. Not just Y7's but all of them.
another question then ...
is it possible for vtech to be intalled on a y7 engine ..
cuz from the looks of it ...it has vetech solenoid ??not quit sure i could be wrong...
It is possible. It requires switching out the cylinder head, ECU, fuel injectors, adding wires for vtec, and possibly a different throttle body. Do a search on a "mini me" that should show you how to do it and answer any other questions you might have on it.
You'd be better off with a D15b block , a 1.6 ZC block or a low milage D16a6 block. Y7's are garbage.
so what would these two sensors be??
alright thanks ....
ok so honeslty i looked it up and people spend like $500 topson mini me's but i seen d16y8 swap go for like $600-675 tops would doing a mini me benifit of just waste my time ...because of course it will get better compression and that beloved vtech but is it just better for me to do a swap..??
Y8 and Y7 bottomends are junk ....
dont waste your money on VTEC just buy a bigger cam for your non vtec and make more power than the head swap
jesus why didnt honda just build phones!!
Nice...yeah I had somebody trying to tell me once that their automatic LS Integra had VTEC, and he cited the transmission solenoids as proof...
