should have got the z6 head, switching to obd2 will be a pain.

    Z6 head.

I have a spare w/o valve cover/dizzy/vtec solenoid. But it has the intake mani if you want to name a price. Only 50k on it, came out of a wrecked EX.

No, Keep the Y8 Head, they are wrong- Y8 Head will give you more power (raise compression) AND you can use your OBD1.

I did the same swap in my civic, here is my photo ablum:

The Y8 may be a little more work, but worth it! :worthy:

oops! forgot to mention in the photos to use your stock D15b7 Distributor. Y8 Dist has different harness= extra step to hardwire!

    good luck! :)

BARELY any more power, just because the quench areas are larger or something. Not enough to bother with the y8 head and having the extra headache.

heres a dseries engine build calculator.
    http://www.knology.net/~jediklc/D.htm

with only a y8 head + y8 headgasket i got a compression of 11.04 using the d15b7 complete block. i wonder how THAT would do with an oil cooler system and better water cooling system for the engine, + i/h/e + tuning and a 7500 rpm redline and 9 tops. i wonder how long the d15b7 block would last in this build.. switiching to obd2 ? doesnt that involve just switching the injectors if your going to run an external vtec conroller and use the stock ecu? i wonder how poerful this would be, sure would run hot. they already run hot as hell. i just found out that a jdm d15 vtec block doesnt have oil squirters. i thought they did, and the z6 block had them as well. now im thinking if im going to go with this build after i do the a6 cam, its prolly more practical to just stick with the b7 blocks and have a few prebuilt. ive hear you have to use special plug wires, which doesnt make any sense...correct me if im wrong here.. only looking for 150-ish HP and around 120-ish TQ
