hey im getting a 2000 civic ex motor [d16y8] . im putting it into my 97 hatch dx.

    i have a few questions.

if im using the harness from the y7 onto the y8 and hooking everything up..is there anything else i need to do?

Im going to use the 96 ex ECU P2p on the 00 motor.

what is air injection and will it do anything if i use the p2p from a 96?

I think you need the y8 harness cuz its vtec and it has a few sensors the y7 doesnt(knock sensor).

would it run without the knock sensor and vtec wired up right away?

You might get away with that but I don't know if those CELs throw the car into limp mode. You might have to pull the pins on the ECU that lead relate to the VTEC and knock sensor, but don't just take my word for it. Heres the schematics for reference.
.:FFS TechNet : OBD2a ECU Pin out Schematics :.

Your 96 should work just as long as you get an OBD2a wiring harness in the future. (96-98 is obd2a 99-00 is obdb)

You don't necessarily need an entire harness. That would make things extremely easy, but it's not necessary. You can just add the appropriate wiring for VTEC to your existing harness...

so then my original question was right... all i need to do is swap my 97 dizzy onto the 00 head

double up the intake manifold gaskets and be able to use my 96 ex intake manifold

and then everything else will be plug and play?

well until i hook up my vtec wires....but the car will run properly till then right?
