d17 engine build ?'s

Hey guys whats up,
ok i bought my new ride, its a 2001 civic ex d17 with the 5 speed, its a slick little ride, anyways, noones making any parts for them.
I was wondering if anyone know if you can use d16 parts in the d17 engine?? whats different and can it be done? Im just looking to get the 7th gens going faster instead of all being showmobiles.

Doesnt the d17 rotate the oposite direction from the d16?if it does then im guessing your gonna have a hard time getting the normal d series parts to work for ya.
