D17 intake

A friend on mine has a 01 civic LX with a D17A1 non Vtec. he wants to know if he can put a D16Y8 intake manifold on it. can he and if so will he have to modify anything?

Won't fit. The y8 IM is smaller. You'll have to modify the y8 IM.

What is the advantage to this? I remember something about the D17 having a plastic manifold maybe?
