Ok so premium is killing me, the mileage on the Si is scaring the fuck out of me and my ankle has been hurting like a mother fucker for the past few days...

I put over 160 miles on the Si after I filled up Saturday after and before work. (figure that one out lol) Anyway, I'm at half a tank after a day and a half of driving, and at 2.05/gallon (don't give a fuck what your prices are...so don't focus on this part) I just don't want to fill that up that often...

So here's what I was thinking...I got this new job, making decent cash thus far.

There's a white 1999 Civic LX four door automatic down the street.... body is in EXCELLENT shape, it has something like a JVC CD player in it and it runs perfectly fine. The only problem with the car is it has 110,4xx miles on it and they want $4490 for it. Edmunds says that for a dealer trade in you still could get $8219 for it. KBB says you could get 8017 for it. Would this car really be worth it? I just know if I were to try for a loan for 4500, buy it and then try to see what the trade in value would be it'd be something like 3500...

Anyway, would this car be worthwhile for a daily driver? It's got a cd deck, so I don't NEED to mod it.

Let me know....

you won't get a loan for 4k dude.... esp for a used car from a private seller-
at least not with out a rediculous intrest rate.

True, it's not from a private seller, sorry...It's at a little dealer around town.

I dunno if I could just get my bank to consolidate a loan onto my existing loan or not...I don't think I could get the same interest rate though.

weren't you saving up for a turbo kit? that will kill your gas mileage even more

Exactly B16. That'll be a while though. Here's what I'm thinking

Si=13.5-14 second weekend warrier
LX= delivery vehicle, go to my other job vehicle and an errands vehicle. Basically my daily driver.

A daily driver is key especially when you have your project car, right now I have a '94 Mazda Miata for my day to day stuff, and my civic to be worked on, when I finish the civic the Miata will be the next project, and I will sell the civic.

Its going to be a lot of bills. You already got your apartment and you Si. Then you will have to get another loan, and another car payment, and another car on your insurance.....

Dont forget about the insurance!! :D

haha i haven't forgotten about hte insurance. At the same time I'll be switching companies, since I'm paying 220/mo now for the Si...they just raised it for whatever reason...so I've had ENOUGH of state farm. I'm going to call Geico and Progressive...one of these days.

I got more bills than just the Si and my apartment...but I make my rent EASY (cause it's so cheap) and I found a way to keep my electric down.

I'm just sittin here trying to figure this out...I know I have another 50/month I could put towards the car as I just FINALLY got rid of my old cell phone.

Do what E did... buy an Insight, figure out a way for it to pay for itself, then turbocharge it to make it more fuel efficient.

I'm on the same path with a Metro. :)

BTW- you Honda girlies have no shit to talk about mileage. I spend $45/ week on gas while commuting about 15 miles a day to work and back. My trip this past weekend to CT cost me ~$65 in gas.

Buy a $4500 car or a $20000+ car? hmmm...gee which one do you think I can afford to finance? lol

It doesn't matter to me. There's a couple of Cavalier Z24s down teh street for 4000, and a few Escorts for 3000. But the Civic LX still looks pretty damn sweet.

Oh and boo hoo on what you spend, that's not coming out of my pocket...so it doesn't effect me. :p :p

buy an old EF or EG and run it til it dies. 30+ mpg, cheapass insurance, run forever, and cheap parts if it does break.

E bought an '00 and spent 10K. As for my gas prices, I'm not bitching like you are. I'm simply saying that you really don't have room to bitch about gas prices when you're driving a car that gets around 30 MPG if driven the right way. I have no choice with the AllTrac. I can stay out of boost and still get ~20 MPG to and from work.

Go buy a mid- '90s metro for about $500. Shit, there's a really clean red '98 hatch near me for $800. A '98!!! They're built by Suzuki, so they're not the POS your redneck friends think they are, and WTF do you care... it's just a daily driver, not your only car, and you'll get 50 MPG on 87 octane.

ok fine...10k is still out of my price range right now. No matter what you say, you were still bitching, don't deny it. You also have more money than I do, so what you pay still doesn't effect me. I had a 91 Metro 3 cyl for a while, I liked the gas and no payments, but it's just not me. 55 hp is shittay...I'm not going to do that again. Besides you won't find a good, clean Geo around here for any price without half the car rusted away.

there ya go

that'd be fine and dandy if there were any EF or EG's for sale, or any that are even in decent condition....why do people tell me to buy something that I haven't found/probably won't find?

theyre a dime a dozen around here..didnt know they were so hard to come by for you. but, if u could find one, i think that would be a decent way to go...IMO of course

So you want me to drive around 200 miles instead of going 5 up the street for a perfectly good 99 Civic?

I appreciate what you're saying, and if I found an EF/EG around here in this good of condition I'd consider it...but I'm asking about the 99 Civic LX.
