How fast would you have to be going to do that much damage?

all you need to know is F=ma , and KE=1/2mv^2 , I'd guess about 80mph

I'd like to know were's the rest of the car ??

We use it as a safety briefing here on base. The safety office, who has the report, claims it's a BMW

heres a comparrison:

Ford Escort:

the wrecked car:

notice the lines in the bumper, see how they match with that of the Escort? tail lights also the same as the Ford Escort in the first pic. and how many BMWs do you know have a 4 lug bolt pattern??

the tail lights arent the same and it looks like the filler neck is on that bmw and not on the ford

it might still be a BMW regardless of the 4 bolt pattern. If you look at the license plate you'll notice that it's not from the US. Probably Europe. Also the front windows are manual. It might be some cheap base model BMW like some of the ones in europe. They might have some models with 4 lugs.
But then again if there is not axle in the back it might not be a BMW since they only make RWD cars. All of the 3-series are RWD, anyway.
And that does not look like a escort.

I don't know what it is, I think a BMW, but that is still incredible. Especially if that guy walked away.

Are you kidding me? Look at the lower valance of the bumpers. NOTHING alike. Look at the outline of the tail lights going around the corner and then down towards the bumper. NOTHING alike. Look at what side the exhaust is on. NOTHING alike. Notice the crease that rungs along the entire length of the car at door handle level on the wreck? (go back and look at the pics if you need to). Kinda funny, but I don't see that on the Escort.

BMW 3 series did indeed use 4X100 all the way up to the mid '90s, and that's what that car looks like- mid '90's 3 series. As for wheels and diffs just getting thrown- go watch some rally wrecks. You'll see cars hit curbs like nothing and the next thing you know, the camera man is dodging a flying left rear suspension assembly.

looks like a 89 ford escort. Idont think a strong, well engineered BMW would twist like that. I hope its true that the driver walked away . . . . damn . .

Ummm. Hey, Know what? Usually when the axles and suspension are ON the car, so is the differential. Since BOTH control arms are intact, as well as the wheels, it makes sense that the diff and axles, or AT LEAST the axles would still be around... Plus, I don't see any upp/lower rear control arms to allow the system to modulate.

That car is FWD, definitely.

Cosworth? Nope. They're AWS, and would also have a Diff and Driveshaft.

MAYBE a base model Escort... Like the FWD only ones, but definitely not an AWD or RWD car.

[edit] on another note. I doubt it's an Escort. Ford ALMOST ALWAYS uses rectangular gas filler doors. Not round. Just a little something else I noticed.[/edit]

THAT ACCIDENT WAS NOT, I REPEAT NOT A REAL ACCIDENT.

That was a stunt put on by some fucknut out to teach kids to not drive like morons in the backroads of England.

The car in question is a 2000 or 2001 Escort Cosworth (made in England). This was posted on Feoa.net a few months ago Brian. It's NOT real.

The guy claimed the driver had just graduated high school and his parents gave him the Cosworth which he then took out and wrapped it around the tree and killed him and his friend.

But notice how all the people are standing around the crime scene and there's no blood anywhere? <_<

2.0L I4, AWD, 300 hp w/ a 5 sp manual...and it's RHD...

PS...that was a differential :p

Oh and that Escort in the top pic is mine (partially Brians now). Like LocoHonkey said, it is absolutely nothing like that cosworth. US Escorts are identical to Australian Lasers, not European Escorts.
