Why are they idiots?

Obviously the defense plan worked precisely as it should have. I fail to see how this makes them idiots, I would think that you would consider them smart after creating a plan that worked effectively.

"Bezhuashvili said the Soviet-era grenade was found 30 meters (100 feet) from the tribune where Bush spoke behind bulletproof glass."

100 feet with a hand grenade? Thats like the distance from the pitcher's mound to home plate in baseball with an object that weighs far more than a baseball. You ever try to throw a baseball that distance? Thats no easy task for me atleast. Seems like it was a REALLY bad throw.

thats great that the plan worked and all... but you would think that our intel would be a little better at discovering a prop plane VS a war threat....

as for the gernade, i saw that too...

the thing LANDED 100 ft from bush. it never says it was THROWN 100 ft.

as much as i hate bush, i would hate to see cheeeeeee$$$$ny running shit even more- so please don't kill bush.

Point is it was no where near bush, regardless of where it was thrown from in terms of a destructive path a grenade must be much closer to insure death or serious injury.

It never said what sort of threat the plane was, they knew it was a passenger plane but that doesn't mean that they knew whether or not it had the nuke thats going to blow up the nation, as many of you believe, on board or not. It flew into restricted air space without permission, thats what we call a threat.

Man, you got f*ckin anger issues. And for me to tell someone that, it's bad.

I'm in agreement with New2, The system is working fine. And you can pack a Cessna with quite a bit of explosive and make a big crater.

I'm sure that that's not where the scenario ended either. I'm sure the fighters escorted him to a closed airport where many many many people raided the plane, detained him for a full cavity search, and are still holding him.

Crashing planes into buildings happens all the time. Death tolls aren't that. The air laws aren't in place because we're afraid of fiberglass planes that disintegrate on impact - We're shaking in our boots for the dirty Nukes that all sorts of anti-american factions claim to be unleashing on us.

And I'm glad someone is on it - And I'm glad that someone (Or plural) are down-home rednecks (And Condoleeza Rice;) that are getting the job done. Because last I heard - No other terrorist threat has seen fruition, and it's all because of current measures in place.

So as I do every night, I raise a glass to Bush - Because at least I'm not irradiated.

this would be the same system that was in place on 9/11...
hmmm, i wonder what happened that day...

this is bullshit, our borders and airports are no more secure than they were 10 or 5 years ago...
another terrorist attack has not happened because they haven't wanted it to...

and it wasn't even a shrapnel grenade, it was only to make a point...

Ask yourself this, have you ever missed the toilet when taking a leak because you were tired? Ever think you had the right answer and were wrong?

We're humans, we make mistakes. There were warning signs before Sept. 11th but guess what, since it would have been too expensive to investigate the information we discovered, we didn't. We're all at fault for not wanting our taxes to be increased and our defense budget to be increased if we don't want to have to worry about outside threats.

You have expections that are unreasonable because they're impossible to meet. Quite being such a hardass because you're not perfect either.

this is bullshit, our borders and airports are no more secure than they were 10 or 5 years ago...

Well guess what naysayer, today a possible attack was prevented. The other week they raided some terrorist factions in the United States that were planning attack. A million other things have happened that the general US public does not know was on the brink of happening because it was prevented and kept silent to keep our defense plans secretive so maybe another attack can be prevented.

When you say is complete and utter dribble and bullshit. You have no idea what you're talking about other then what the mass media feeds you. I don't know everything that happens either, but I understand that a million things happen behind my back and I understand that the intelligence and defense agencies much keep information secretive and not broadcast it across the news to insure our methods remain as effective as possible. If the terrorist know theres an alarm on the front door because the defense agencies informed everyone just to appease little piss ants like yourself then they'd know to go to the back door.

In short, you know shit keep your mouth shut and don't act as if you do because no one can possibly know all the information. Understand and accept.

Horse Shit.

Security is SO overdone now that an old lady can't get on a plane with a nailclipper. And when we all read about that we made jokes and called for Airports to lighten up. When they lightened up, They get razzed on for being ineffective.

Holy shit, I thought I worked in a no-win situation. Flying now is FAR more secure than it was on September 11th, 2001. The no-fly thing was in effect, but when a passenger jet carrying civilians is heading toward Washington - Evacuating was the ONLY action that could be done. Did you expect them to shoot it down ? What would happen if we learned that they shot down the Pennsylvania flight? You would SHIT YOURSELF (Collectively) and call for new government. Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

By evacuating, they made it clear that no Civilian will be harmed or questioned to protect a few buildings. They had mere seconds to act when they learned of things going wrong - And then to dispatch a remedy. Impossible.

We will always be in danger of terrorist acts - And the fact that it hasn't happened astounds me. It's incredible. Whatever underlying plan is in effect is so ingenious that it's immediately passed unsurmountable odds and worked.

Bravo.

Aww shit, that's a good one!

True story here...

I refuse to allow airport security to xray my laptop bag. Common practice for people like me who don't like high frequency energy blasted at their machines. Of course, the security guy asked me to open my laptop bag.

Not a problem, I didn't have anything to hide. The next thing I hear from him is "You're a Jamiroquai fan?" I looked up and he was pointing to the canned heat sticker on my lappie. I nodded and said "Yeah, he's a cool guy." The security guard nodded and said "You're good to go." I closed my bag and went on my way.

THAT is your overdone security!

I didn't have to power it up, didn't have to open any of the pouches, nothing. That laptop could have been a compact bomb big enough to blow up that plane! THEY DIDN'T EVEN CHECK THAT THE LAPTOP WORKED!!!

Oh yeah, I feel a LOT safer.

i suggest you all go rent the Septemb8r Tapes documentary. it may change your mind on a couple things...

Change minds about what? I've seen it, was cool for a movie, but I am not remembering anything that would be relevent here.

And big guy, what do you do at work when you meet someone "cool" that seems to relate with you? You trust them. Do you let the cool guy that came to the register that was off 5 cents slide and say, "yeah whatever"

Will there always be poor workers of course there will. Are there poor workers everywhere? Of course there is... How can you expect there to be 100% amazing, effective workers for a government agency then? Just because its government they're supposed to overcome all odds and human nature?

You're a moron. So a guy let you threw, for every guy thats let through another guy is harassed...like my father or grandfather who fly frequently and are asked to open up their cameras or bags or do extra stuff that the common person who breazes by doesn't have to.

You mean a documentary that was put together by people who are opposed to the current government in an attempt to put the government in a poor light? Wow, this is eye opening.

Its like the common person talking crap about a person that they specifically don't like, overanalyzing the situation and coming up with a million and one reasons why they suck so bad.

You guys here that all hate me can talk so much crap about me and think I'm a moron, but then anyone that knows me in person can provide examples and reasons why they believe me to be intelligent. Its the same thing on a larger scale. Its all about how many suckers will be sucked in and eat up every word that they say, just like Michael Moore.

Nothing in life is perfect, you take the good with the bad.

I'm a moron because I proved that the system is flawed? You're funny as hell!

Just think... I could have been a real-deal terrorist.

Yes, I let people slide. But when it comes to something like THAT, I do not. I can't board a plane with my zippo, but my "laptop" is all good? Like I said... a little C4, a little circuitry and that plane would have been a fireball. Funny thing is... nobody would know who it was or why it happened.

And the "cool guy" would still let people through.

You are the moron for not realizing that a fuck up like that could cost many lives. What if I had a pistol (or two, was a big ol laptop) in there? Hey! I've got a plane... what building should I smash it into?

But hey, I'm a moron... its not like I could tell you how to hijack a plane with a fake laptop or anything.

I could fit a small pistol into the space where the floppy would normally go (if it was removed), and it would still work. Granted, checking them for functionality is a good idea, but still not fool proof, so letting ten guys in a group of three hundred go by without is a rather moot point.

Agreed, however for the system to work, you cannot pick favorites. Kinda like not virus scanning 10 out of every 300 emails you receive. One of them is gonna bite you.

I would expect that refusing to allow them to xray my bag would set off a big ol red flag.

that should read GEORGE BUSH...
yes, saddam was behind the 9/11 attacks, saddam has WMD's, saddam is a svere threat to the US, we must attack NOW...
yea, you bought it sucker...

or how about the proven accounts of the administration using journalists to push their propraganda on SS, or the no child left behind?
those are proven accounts...
journalists were paid to push the gov'ts plans...

and the american people(ie: YOU) buy into it all... thats a true definition of suckers...
