i am sooo pumped... It is being overnighted to me for my convience. All i did was have to complain about an overheating laptop due to my heat sink 4 times in the last year. Total i spent 1900 ish for my inspiron 5150 but that was with a 500 dollar warranty but now i get a 1997 dollar computer with a 500 dollar warranty till 2009 :) Fuckn' A what a great christmas already

also it has 6 usb ports and bluetooth... but i no longer have a bluetooth phone but ill take it... for free. I love all the people at dell. Speaking broken english for hours and hours of fun.

edit - does anyone want to buy a western digital 160 gb external hardrive? Or a belkin 4 point usb hub? Cheap :)

 on the new laptop. I didnt ever think of doing that with mine and now its out of warranty

you'll need a new mother board next year anyway.... good thing you got the warranty.

i just quickyl speced one out on alienware....

and this is with a 17" widscreen display too
better chip set
double your ram
SATA hard drives in raid 0 format for speed, and more space (120 vs your 100)

$2,039.00

take off media center, and its 1900.

yeah i understand it is not the best laptop but i havent had a problem with mine till i spilled soda on it. And i have had this 5150 now for a year and it is fine. I expected 5 years out of my dell purchase ( thats why i have the warranty) but if i get anymore i will be satisfied. i am excited also about my 17 inch monitor :)

i just read this all the way...
1st - i have media center on the new laptop ~~> Software,Windows Xp MCE05U,Digital Video Disk Drive,English,DAO $74.75
2nd - 17 inch monitor will suit me well enough on a laptop, it is hardly an all out media center.
3rd - how the hell is the motherboard so bad. Just because some dell motherboards go bad, doesnt mean mine will.
4th - basically this is a 2000 dollar computer for 1400 bucks with a 500 warrenty till 2008 :) Alienware isnt gonna warranty
it that long for around 1900 total spent.
5th - 20 gb more on a harddrive... well i had a 40 before so i am cool with that.
6th and finally - i am fine with that chipset, if it fails i call dell.

ALIENWARE SUCKS!!! yeah i said sucks, my best freind bought a screemin new laptop, total=just under $4000 dollars. as soon as he recived it he charged it for a day before even using it, as soon as he first turned it on, the thing crashed, blue screened(you name it), i figured out that the alienware software was deleting a very crucial boot command. i re loaded it with some cunning and some patients and got it running again, after alienware said they don't know how to fix it. (dude even bought a 3 year warrenty) anyways, the computer kept crashing, alienware said they'd exchange it, but he would have to pay for shipping and get fee's out the butt. we talked to the manager and they would only take it back for a full refund, nuff said. so we did, and got him the top of the line Dell xps laptop for $3400 and its way better, better hardware and better period, maybe he just got a bad computer(could be a rare thing) or something, but it kind pisses me off that alienware wouldn't do anything about it.

dell is a great company to get a decent computer from, i think my parent have bought a few computers from em and have had nothing but good things to say about it.

nice, thats a sweet laptop!

the XPS are pretty awesome. we have one at work, its got NEONS in it.

whoa i thought alienware was good. whats a good company then?? laptop wise as i will never buy a premade one.

if your wanting a good laptop,, i'd say get a toshiba...very well built, and superb support. i've had mine for two year now and its keeps on going, its never had one issue(nock on wood). you could get a Dell, its just they sub-contract all their support tech guys for people who live in india. they are such an annoyance to listen to or even get ridiculous comments like, "well, i don't know, turn you computer off for 15 seconds and then tell me what happens" are you kidding me, its a freakin driver missing!!! stuff like that. its funny, because they are reading out of a tech manual, i asked a guy once how long he'd been working on computers, and he said, " oh, i dont know, i don't know much, i just started today."

anyways, if your gunning for a desktop system, build it yourself, PERIOD!
