truth :D. it's one of the features intel and amd's offering to boost performance without increasing power usage or tdp. old turbo used to be it temporary bump cpu multiplier until it got hot and was only good for a few seconds. but with the power management programs, there's voltage gating, cpu multiplier increase and disabling 'unused' cores.

2000si, if you have a micro center or fry's near by, they are awesome places to grab deals. dont except diamond level customer support though. also, newegg frequently has those combos, usually almost nightly around 12am for their shell shocker deals.
 
I wish we had a Fry's... last time I was in that place they had some badass laptops for 150-200. Closest one is down in Indy though. I'm gonna keep my eyes open here.
