so the gf's ef sedan is having a problems were the car just dies when she is driving. the battery was bad so i got a new battery and the problem persists. so i thought it was the altenator and put a volt meter on it and its putting out over 12v still. its a stock d15 with dpfi.

What is over 12v? Alternator should push 13.8v if all is well. If it's under 13v I would take it to the parts store for a load test.

Many times, when a battery goes south it takes the alternator with it - sometimes the alternator is the cause of the battery taking a dump by not charging it correctly.

    ok - if it's cranking our 14v it's fine.

I would start looking at the distributor - sounds like mine when the sensor that times ignition went kaput. Sometimes it only had issue (miss) in one cylinder. Then other times it would randomly die. Sit for a few minutes, then start back up.

    Good luck with it.

Wiring check - ground and connectors. Also, those diagnostic self tests don't always nail it 100%. Strobe signal could be missing for injectors.

Look for sensor - in mine it's in the dizzy - your model may have a separate sensor on the cam or crankshaft for the injector strobe signal.

    You're getting closer.
