    Yo guys,

I've been looking at Supra's lately and so far I've noticed the non turbo arn't as expensive as the turbo. My question would be this then: What's different about the Non-Turbo from the Turbo Supra?

Would it be a bad idea for a person to buy a Non-Turbo and put turbo's on that engine? What kind of HP and E.T. 1/4 mile would I see if it were a good idea?!

    Thanks guys!

Usually Supra Turbos have stronger internals and a stronger trans, as well as other performance appointments.

i know that a stock supra block can handle over 900hp. well that is the record right now. Im not sure how the n/a motors are. I say just get a turbo man they are so much faster

I would like find a non turbo block, rebuild and turbo it. Whats the paint in buying a turbo'd car if your just going to take out the turbo and internals and replace them anyways? Seems like throwing away another 4000 dollars or so... Just not sure if the are the same!

Ill check out supra forums, thanks guys!

After further research I found out it's something like this...

    Different Internals
    Different Brakes
Different Head -You can buy a GTE head and bolt it right onto the GE block... but because the intake and exhaust manifolds are different you have to custom mount them.
    Different Injectors
    Different Fuel Pump
    Oil Squirters
    I think ones a 6 speed and ones a 5 speed
    Maybe LSD also

Thats kind of what I've scrapped together.

I think a person can buy a complete GTE Engine and swap it right onto the GE Mounts. I read there was only 1 part number for each car on the mounts. I'm not sure how the tranny/clutch/flywheel and all that would work though... a person might have to do buy that stuff along with the engine swap.

not sure what it comes out to cost wise, but I think for a new engine its around 4100, dont know what the tranny cost's...

something to think about I guess?

another option would be just getting the GTE head and pistons (the crank and rods might be the same I believe), drilling oil squirters and custom mounting the intake and exhuast manifolds... not sure what that would come out to as far as price...

either way it sounds like a lot of work...

all this info came from supraforums.com if you want to check it out for yourselfs!

    Thanks guys!

That is one nice piece of machinery. Looks like a decent deal for the money. Those things are terribly overpriced since the F+F movie.

This guy around in md has a orange non turboed and his best time at the track was a 14.5 at 97mph i think. It looks nice it has a real veilside kit but he hit a cat and it has bondo marks on it now but take that into consideration... My opinion is buy a turboed one. You pay more but you get a better car in general. I would rock a supra anyday though.

...hit a cat? Sux0rz. Yeah I'd rock a supra... turbo or not, y0. I might be buying a nice 2nd gen with the 1jz-gtte twin turbo stuffed in it... always liked the 2nd gen.

As a supra afficionado, This thread kinda makes me nauseous. What year are you talking about, or at least what gen?

I assume you're talking about a 4th gen, as the pictures show.

Are you looking for chassis difference, or just engine ?

diff between turbo and n/a supras

the only differences in the bottom end of a 2jzgte and 2jzge are the pistons.....they have the same block, same crank, same rods...........if you dont believe me go to your local auto parts store and look up anything in the bottom end for a turbo and non turbo supra.....they are the same......the pistons are different because the n/a has a higher compression then the turbo as for top end its all different.....but you can take a twin turbo headgasket, head, intake and exhaust (plus turbos) and bolt it right to the n/a block....the thicker twin turbo head gasket and the turbo head will help lower the compression and run very well on 93 oct. pump gas.........i have a 94 lexus gs300 with a full 2jzgte twin turbo swap and another 94 gs300 that im making a turbo and doing just like i just said changing the head gasket head and all ill post more info as i get it done but as of right now the head bolted right up very nicely.
