Distributor Question

this might sound like an ass question but im curious. I have a b16 distributor with no cap and rotor. I have a d16y7 dizzy with cap and rotor. apparently the rotor fits perfect but the cap does not. Simple question- if i get a b16 cap, will it work with a y7 rotor? this is asking for flamage right here but input will be appreciated

most likely the rotor will work with that cap, but why not just get the right rotor? they are only like 10 bucks
