hey! i just swapped a dohc zc into my 91 civic si.. i went to buy a timing belt for it.. i tried the belt for an 88 prelude because i heard it fits.. it was too small.. then i bought the belt for an 88 integra.. that was to big...then i went and bought the belt for a 90-91 integra.. it fits good but im a little iffy about it...its the first timming belt i have done on a dohc engine.. then when i went to get spark plugs for it, they said that the 90 and 91 integra engines are 1.8L's.. and the 1.6L's are only in the 88 and 89 integras.. so i got the plugs for an 89 integra.. im confused.. i dont know what year my DOHC ZC is.. i want to find out... i bought the engine from some guy that lives near by....he said it was a 91 b16, so he doesnt know shit. do i have the right belt, and plugs??? Thanks..

the correct timing belt for the 88 and up JDM DOHC ZC is the same as the 88 Prelude 2.0 Si - Honda Part No. 14400-PK2-004

if the serial number of the engine (just below the 'ZC') begins with a '2', the engine is 88-91 OBD0 - if it begins with a '3', it is 92-95 OBD1

the year of the engine can be found by looking on the side of the head between the #2 and #3 exhaust ports - the number on the head is the year the head was cast and usually means the model year of car the engine was in is one more than that number - head marked 89 came in 90 model year - no number on the head is 88 model year car

Ok. I checked the head, and right between 2 and 3 exhaust port, on the left side of the line where it says 89 in the picture, it just has an 8, and on the right side of the line it has a 7. And the 88 lude belt was way too small, even when the tensioner was loose.

the timing belt has to be for the 88 Prelude 2.0 Si B20A5 DOHC - sounds like you got a SOHC belt
