I am not sure if someone will get mad if I post this here, but you can move it if it is a problem. So after a year and a half of doin pizza delivery my Accord finally went up in smoke about 2 weeks ago(day before my birthday...LAME!!). So I parked her and was hoping that maybe...just maybe I had a bad radiator cap, or something of the sort. Well, I open the hood and this is what I see...

yes, that m*****f***** is completely melted away.. There is a hole in the resevoir where the pressure found a way out, which is where most of the smoke was coming from. Anways, I figure I "blew" my radiator. So I start tearing it out. At which point I see a stream...yes a stream of coolant running down from the head on the transmission side. So, as most of you know, that would be a headgasket. And of course it was, I pulled the head off today and here is what I found:

**Insert sad smiley here**

So, since I got a Cavalier as a temp car, I have a lot of time to work on it. efhondakid and I are going to do a trade for a H22a head and I am thinking of doing a h22/f22 set-up. Going to find someone to deck the block for me so the compression ratio is good enough for the h22/f22 set-up. Not too sure what the ecu deal is, but more reading and **Searching** is to come. Wish me luck!

Seriously. It never melted the fucking plastic for me......just looked like my car was crying cuz it's fucking brain like exploded lol. That's hardcore. Figure out why it melted it that bad?

well, before the shit went up in smoke, my temp gauge was about an inch over the red line...whoa. My oil temp was reaching almost 240 degrees, and I could smell coolant like I was snorting it. I dont know too much about how/why headgaskets go bad, but im sure those two things played a pretty good role in it.

nope, not missing anything at all. But, like I said, I have some time to do some upgrading/learning, so I figured I would take the time to do it. I also might just do the headgasket and pull a f22 block from a junk yard and do the frankenstein outside of the car. I dont know all the details yet.

Plus, this was more of a "hey, anyone know why it blew up that much?", and "hey, this is whats in the future for me"

usually the headgasket causes the overheating
not the other way around

headgaskets are wear items, they eventually go bad from use

do some more research on the H22/F22 combo
from what I have read its not a bolt and play frank motor

nope, it isnt. The compression ratio, if it was bolted right up, is 8.44:1 IIRC. And some of the oil drains dont line up. There is a tech post on HT, but its from '04. Anyone know of any other ones?

I did a year and a half of delivery in my Si and had absolutely no problems. Even after a trip to Florida and Texas it still runs like a champ.

I used my Accord for while to do pizza deliveries. As soon as I stopped delivering, the thing died on me. Coincidentally it was the head gasket as well.

I've worked in fast food, CAD programming, call centers, old people's home, porn/lingerie shop (my fav) and now another call center. But now I get discounts on Proactiv and stuff like that.

its definitly a good job for being a college student. I average 18-20 and hour with tips. My accord has had problems since the day i bought it. Plus now it has 190xxx miles so the headgasket was bound to go. I think its worth it, although a couple months ago I almost got jumped by 3 guys dressed in all black with masks, I happened to have seen one in my rear view mirror and the other two ducking in front of my car, then I rolled my windows up and slowly backed out and they just kind of dissapeared..then I called the cops, but they didnt find anyone of course. A couple people, and other pizza places' drivers, have gotten jumped around here, it can be dangerous, but now I carry mace...and when I turn 21, a pistol...lol, isnt it crazy that it has to come to that? maybe its just me idk
