When you debit card's fraud dept calls you to tell you someone has been making strange charges on your card. Some fucker in Virginia got some stuff at bjs and costco on my card. Enjoy your stolen shit while I am stuck without cash and a debit card for the weekend.

Yep it sux real bad. I used to travel a lot for work, sometimes with extended stays. So, I've had card fraud all over the world, lost wallets, lost cell phones, etc.

Tried various things over the years. The end result is 3 checking accounts (at one bank, under one master account), the one I pay bills from has no card, no PIN, no checks printed, all bills paid electronically by me in manual mode except house mortgate which is setup as automatic (no designed external access - yes, of course it can be hacked). Of the other two, no checks printed for them either. One I use for day to day stuff like groceries and gas, dog food and such., the third is for online purchases, and toys, tools, stuff like that. Both these accounts have debit cards, if one gets dorked up I can switch easily.

I carry one credit card and one debit card in my wallet. The others remain locked up at home just in case.

Paycheck goes into a savings account with no card access or PIN. I transfer monies weekly into other accounts as needed.

they wont give you the money back?

when i make a fraud claim, my bank gives me all the money back, then they investigate shit. they pursue the ID theif to get their money back. i have no part in it.

This is the reason why I only use credits cards, especially when I buy things online or go somewhere where my card is taken from me (ie. restaurants). Use a credit card and then pay it off right away using your online account. You can get some pretty good discounts with the rewards too.

If there is a fraud charge at least you don't get hit directly from your checking/savings. If it's a debit card that money is GONE until you get it resolved with the bank, and that could be 2-3 weeks.\

Good luck with everything man, I've been there before. Shit sucks.

thats what im saying. my bank gives me the money back IMMEDIATELY. then investigates whatever they want on their end. if and only if they decide i made a fraudulent claim (for example, i bought something, and lied about buying it) would they take the money back.

i had a claim a few years ago. called my bank up, they said "we'll put the money back right away and look into it" and received a letter saying pretty much the same thing. i never heard anything back and they never took the money back.

I stopped giving my card at restaurants. i think this is where a lot of the double-swipe stuff happens. I try to pay cash or at the register directly and watch them.

I got the call at 4pm on Sat. Bank closed at 3 and reopens at 8:30 on Monday. Just screwed for the weekend. I really think I am going to pay cash a lot more.
This happened to my credit card before also. Someone was using it for porn sites.
