I have a b18b1 in my integra. i am debating on the popular ls\vtec. i heard people talk about power gains and all but i was wondering what the down sides would be the car has 108,000 miles and i plan on pushing to 200+ with the vtec. i'm hoping someone can provide some input on what to expect out of this frankenstein motor and how much i would have to spend if i was paying for labor and parts. :driver:

Alot of people think the downside is the rod stroke ratio. But built correctly they make great power and torque and are durable. You will defintely want to rebuild the bottom end. I always recommend so aftermarket rods and pistons. For two reasons the ls rods are weak, and the ls pistons wont have shit for compression with a b16 head its only about 9.5:1 I can build the built shortblock for you for about $1600-1700 with parts, machine work, and labor included. Do do a complete engine would be more because of the extra parts and labor. It would also depend on what brand of parts you would want to go with. I cant really guesstimate how much someone else would charge. Check out one of my all motor builds here http://hondaswap.com/engine-building/bad-little-allmotor-ls-vtec-build-84953/

Where did I shoot you down? I just stated a fact. I could have been a douche about it, but I was trying to be polite. You could have perhaps checked the date on this thread before you signed up and posted, or perhaps checked that guy's profile to see if he's been around recently or if he has contact info.

Also, I would recommend deleting that e-mail address unless you're fine with getting spammed.

As for directing you towards someone that can help you, have you even inquired locally? We don't know where you live. I mean be able to build a mean LS/VTEC, but it's not going to matter much if you live in Texas and I live in Maine, now is it?

I'd suggest you inquire locally first, or at the very least visit some of the regional sections down near the bottom of the forum...

Ok, well I don't know of anyone off-hand here that would be fairly local and could build an engine for you. I would suggest picking the regional forum that fits you best and posting in there: Regional Forums - HondaSwap Forums
