Driveshaft problems

When I pulled my long-side driveshaft out the other day, I saw that the end of the inner spline shaft (which locates inside the diff) was completely graunched just before the circlip, the rest of the spline was fine. So I got a new one and tried to put it in, but it just didn't want to clip in! Pushed it in as best I could and took her for a spin, and sure as damn, it popped out. My question is do you think the locating section inside the diff is screwed or do you think the circlip on the inner cv housing spline is stuffed?

sometimes the little c-clip on the on the AXLE (not drive shafts) are pretty hard to get in. Try harder.
