ok here, i'll hammer the joke into a bloody, twitching, un-funny, puddle of mush
one of the main symptoms of dyslexia, is having trouble processing images, often seeing or spelling words incorrectly
for example:
a dyslexic person might see the word backward, "SAW" as "WAS", "TAR" as "RAT" or maybe "EDIT" as "TIDE"
or they might see the word jumbled up, "TOW" as "TWO" or "LOW" as "OWL", or "GNU" as "GUN"
so the kid brought a GNU to school with the intent of breaking the no GUN rule, but his dyslexia made him read it incorrectly, hence the bit about his intent being to break the rule.
now that this poor story has been raped of any trace of funny, im gunna go staple my nuts to my desk and do jumping jacks for about 20 minutes
