e-brake handle?

ok this may seem like a really stupid question but does anyone know how to get the e-brake handle off of a civic ek model...i had the whole center console and the rubber boot off and i can't see any screws or anything to figure out how the handle itself comes off

they don't I have had to cut them off usally. If you pull and twist they will some times pull off

mine was like almost solid rubber, so i took an olfa knife starting cutting, but always cut away from yourself, had some close encounters, but i kept braking blades, so i used a heat gun to warm it up and then it cut through like butter, and once you've cut down to the steel then the rest should just slide off
