I thought about the samurai sword, and a machete, and a machete made in the fashion of a samurai sword, but as sharp as they are I thought they may fall into the "can get stuck" category.
 
You can hammer the hell out of a brain with a blunt instrument though. The last thing anyone wants is their cutting implement getting stuck in a zombies cranium or spine. If you have to get close then a blunt weapon is probably your best bet.
