    I thought about the samurai sword, and a machete, and a machete made in the fashion of a samurai sword, but as sharp as they are I thought they may fall into the "can get stuck" category.

    You can hammer the hell out of a brain with a blunt instrument though. The last thing anyone wants is their cutting implement getting stuck in a zombies cranium or spine. If you have to get close then a blunt weapon is probably your best bet.

    excellent bludgeoning device, and it has multiple tool uses as well

    or the Stanley FUBAR
    great bludgeoning device with better reach and more uses then the average crowbar
