ecu stages

Im getting an ecu for my h22 and the seller will set my vtec engagements wherever i want . I have a h23 transmission and have heard that in order not to slip out of v-tec when im shifting i should set it a little lower than 5000 rpm. If true where should i set the secondary? The ECU im getting is a p28. Also am i going to have any problems hooking this ECU up? I know the ecu that is supposed to go in my car is a p13 but ive heard this one is better.

I wouldn't go any lower than 4800 on VTEC engagement, and have the IAB open just slightly sooner, maybe 4700.

This is on the low side, and may not be optimal.
