im a noobie, i was wondering if a d16z6 p28 ecu will work with a d16y8.. i want to replace my motor and i found a d16y8, and i was wondering if i had to purchase the ecu also w/ the motor... :unsure:
 
nope, your z6 ecu will be fine. no need to re-wire the interior of the car to make it run.

you will need to do some wiring under the hood though, as the y8 is obd2
 
thanks, what kind of other wiring will i need? maybe what like fuel injectors, distributor, or just harness? :spin:
 
it should work, but like he said obd1 to obd2...1 thnig is i think some1 mentioned to me that theyre both vtec but they work a lil differently, now i dont know if this is true or not but u might wanna ask around....if you want a d16y8 ecu i have 1 its out of a 96 ex
