Hello. Just wondering if anyone can give the correct info. I have an F3 spec B20a6 motor which i am going to put into my EF CRX. I was going to use a B16a cable trans. They say that all b-series blocks can use other b-series transmissions. Is there anyone out there who has done this conversion, & can give me some valuable info.

Not smart. That motor is the bastard child of Honda B-series motors. And I'm almost positive that the trans will not bolt up. Their is most definitely no real after-market parts for it.

ya the early, prelude b series are not compatable with any later bseries parts they are a waste of money, you would be better off buying a b16

I know that the b20a6 is not the choice of many. But this is a motor that has been used in Formula 3 world wide for along time & is a proven winner around the world. Because the motor is going into a race car - VTEC is not needed & is useless in a race application ( thats why they invented VTEC killer cams) In any case this motor has already been built up (by an existing F3 team) so i do not need to locate any go-fast engine bits. The question i need answered is.. Does an 90-92 mdl Integra cable trans (B18a1) or a B16a gearbox bolt up to a B20a6.

ur trying to mount this motor in a crx?.... doesnt it sit on a 18 degree angle? has anyone seen mounts for that for a crx? honestly its not a common swap...ive seen b16a1,2 b18b b18a b18c1,c5...but not b20a6

:laughing1::no: You have no idea what your talking about.

Does that go the same for the B20B? Or is it just the B20A6? That's the swap I have in mine(B20B), and I am running a cable B16 tranny...

Its a shame that when you require a simple answer to a simple question - all you get is alot of B/S from alot boy-racer straight line specialist. Could a real circuit racer with some cred, Please answer my question. If it does'nt work fine i will pursue another avenue. But don't tell about the engine i want to use. I am just interested in the transmission compatability. Save your negativity for some other Street boy racer type!

I'm not positive on the transmissions, but I don't think so. Why not just use the b20a6 transmission?

Answer was posted earlier.
B20A6 was from an older prelude.
It does not have any other major compatible parts with any other B series engine and will not bolt up to your CRX with any known kits. So it will likely be difficult and time consuming or expensive and time consuming depending if you do it yourself.

Recommending to either buy a chassis to put it in that requires little modding (older prelude), or to sell it and buy something that will be easier to swap in.

ok circuit racer, open your eyes, heres your answer

and im pretty sure over half this sight does autocross,or anyother event that doesnt include straightline..
and the f3 teams use them,so why dont YOU go ask them for YOURSELF?

You know your right F3 teams do use this motor - & i would ask them anything i need to know re: components for the B20a6 engine. But since the original question relates to transmissions alone ( totally different to what an F3 team would use) i don't see how they could help. To all of you that have offered valuable information re: the transmission compatability, thats what these forums are designed for i thankyou very much. To those who chose to focus in the negativity of the B20a6 & ignore my original question, well .....................................

4 posts and your running your mouth? This is a forum full of people that are full of useful information. Be sure you'll never get help from me or a lot of other people on this forum because of how you acted in this forum. We told you, it is not a common swap, it will not bolt up without major fabrication, and it wont bolt to a B16 trans. If you try and do this it will end up as a very expensive sculpture in your yard/garage. The fact that you refuse to listen to us doesn't make our answers any less right. If you don't want to listen to us then shut the fuck up.

ok circuit bitch...the answer was given to you in the first 2 posts..you diregarded any info given and kept wondering..it is not OUR fault that YOU are a moron and dont know how to read,as for the info on the motor not being the best choice, well thats just a fact, get over it or get off the site, plain and simple

Like i said, Thankyou to all of you that offered insightful information

Nope, B20B/Z is totally different than the B20A motors. The B20B is a fine choice for your car.

Oh, and this thread =

Oh yeah, I did some quick research and it looks like this engine was soooo bad-ass that it was scraped as soon as the F22 and H22 became available options. Which, I might add, are swappable into an EF and able to use a B16 transmission with the proper adapter plate.

Yeah, I was wondering about that too. I just can't believe that a lot of race teams are still using B20As with some of the other stuff swaps available now...

They've been using them forever.
K series is newer.
Also the the higher initial cost and a slightly higher cost to tune and upgrade.
People are lazy.

Thats all I can think of.

B20A6 thats an antique definately not the way to go. A big waist of time and money, I have never even heard of anyone trying to swap that engine but hey theres always a first and guess what its ---------------------------->u!

Seriously don't waist time even thinking about that swap cause its not going to put out good results.
